Shown here are objective maps of the Scanfish data obtained from the average profiles, which were generated by averaging each complete dive cycle of the undulating Scanfish path into one profile with 2m vertical bins. The average position of the profiles is indicated by asterisks in the map. The shorter dive cycle on the shallower shelf produced denser profile spacing. The objective map grid spacing is 0.02 degrees in longitude and latitude, between -73.3 and -72.6 degrees longitude and 38.8 and 39.4 degrees longitude, respectivly. Two-dimensional maps were generated over 2m intervals between between 2m and 120m. The correlation scale was assumed to be 10km in both longitude and latitude. The "error_level" in generating the map was set to 0.1 (variable "err_lvl"); for the plots, a blanking based on the error map excludes areas exceeding 0.4.
